  • Chemical contaminant testing, e.g. pesticides, preserving agents, heavy metals, thermo extraction on solvent residues;
  • Emission testing of items for interior decoration and flooring;
  • Fire testing of flooring, furniture upholstery, curtains, articles of decoration and textiles/PPE (Personal Protective Equipment);
  • Physical testing of flooring (including tests pertaining to the basic requirements and tests for classification into the load range);
  • Physical testing of textiles, such as scrub resistance, pilling characteristics and tensile tests;
  • Physiological testing (skin simulator);
  • Sensory odour testing of flooring, foam materials and textiles;
  • Light exposure and aeration testing of textiles and flooring;
  • Chemical and physical testing of PPE (e.g. electric arc testing);
  • Individual test programmes for faultfinding in the event of claims/complaints;
  • On-site testing (e.g. slide friction) and room air measurements;
  • Material analyses;
  • Testing of electrostatic charge;
  • Testing of the UV protective factor of clothing textiles and textiles used for sun shading; and
  • Tests pertaining to washing cycle control for washing and textile cleaning inspection for chemical cleaning.

A comprehensive range of equipment is available to conduct the tests and includes the following:

  • Gas chromatographs with mass selective detectors (GCMS) and various sample feed systems (e.g. pyrolysator, SPME, headspace, thermodesorption);
  • ICPMS;
  • HPLC;
  • Infrared spectrometers (FTIR);
  • Photometers;
  • Colourimeters;
  • Exposure units;
  • Emission chambers;
  • Tensile testing machines;
  • Carpet testers (castors, exercise bike, drums);
  • Taber abrasion testers;
  • Martindale wear and abrasion testers;
  • Skin simulators;
  • Radiant panels; and
  • In-house equipment for fire testing of PPE (equipment for measuring the heat transition for the effects of radiated heat and flame exposure) and for fire testing of curtains.
